LONDON
Lonsdale
Style bars come and more often than not go, but Lonsdale in Notting Hill perennially crops up at the top of lists of the capital's best watering holes, and with good reason - that reason being the drinks menu. Compiled by bartender Henry Besant, founder of the Worldwide Cocktail Club, Lonsdale's almost legendary drinks list also owes a debt to Dick Bradsell, cocktail concoctor extraordinaire and inventor of some of the most imaginative (and indeed tasty) tipples known to man. The Vernor Panton-inspired space-age interior is toned down slightly at the back, where a decent set menu is available to soak up all those cocktails.

Who goes
Lonsdale being located in trendy Notting Hill, expect the usual suspects - Sienna, Kylie and Jade Jagger are all pretty regular patrons
When to go
Any given evening, although get there too late and you may find yourself unable to move for the cocktail-quaffing crowds enjoying a vintage beverage or several.
What to wear
The crowd is an eclectic mix of suit-wearers and the more casually attired, so feel free to dress however you like - as long as you're dressed well, of course.
Golden Touch
The historic section of the cocktail menu which, like an alcoholic timeline, includes drinks from the 18th century right through to the present day: however many per cent proof of the capital's mixology pre-eminence. Lie back, glass in hand, and think of London.
